Case studies - breast composition

Study Information

  •  110 healthy participants who had prior mammograms were scanned with the UWB imaging system.

  • Breast density information (category and percentage) was obtained from the imaging reports available with the mammograms.

Sample images

  • Sample images and corresponding mammograms are shown for  each density category:

    • A = almost entirely fatty

    • B = scattered areas of         fibroglandular density

    • C =  heterogeneously dense

    • D = extremely dense

  • Greater properties are observed for higher density categories.

Summary of results

  • Average properties of UWB images were calculated and plotted against the percent density available from mammography reports.
